Inmate Hangs Self At Tarrant Jail

An inmate hanged himself in the Tarrant City Jail just two hours after he was booked.

TARRANT, AL - An inmate hanged himself in the Tarrant City Jail Wednesday night just two hours after he was booked into the jail.

A report by Alabama Media Group said inmate, 62-year-old David M. Farley, was found hanging by his clothing in his cell at 11:18 p.m. Wednesday. He was taken to UAB Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 11:59 p.m.

Officers arrested Farley about 9 p.m. Wednesday on a charge of disorderly conduct. Reports say he was intoxicated, and was told to go back into hbis home, but when he emerged from his house, he was arrested. After he was booked and sent to his cell, a dispatcher spotted Farley trying to take his own life on surveillance monitors and jailers and medics responded to his cell.
