Man Arrested After Abandoned Car Hit By Train In Trussville
A man left his vehicle stuck on railroad tracks in Trussville and led police on a foot chase before being arrested.

TRUSSVILLE, AL — A strange turn of events involving a train colliding with a vehicle in Trussville led to an arrest Tuesday. The incident occurred just after 1 p.m.
Trussville Police responded to a collision involving a Norfolk Southern train and a Honda Pilot that occurred in the 100 block of Railroad Ave. Upon arrival, officers discovered that a vehicle had driven up the tracks, away from the railroad crossing, and became stuck.
The vehicle was unoccupied at the time of the collision. During the search for the driver of the vehicle, officers located 33-year-old Ryan Mitchell of Newell, Ala., in the 200 block of Main Street.

Mitchell ran away from police and was captured after a brief foot chase, but was eventually apprehended and was arrested for public intoxication and attempting to elude a law enforcement officer. He is currently in the Trussville City Jail.
The vehicle was towed from the area and train traffic resumed shortly after the collision.
