Center Point Standoff: Suspect Surrenders After 6 Hours
A man barricaded himself inside a Center Point home for more than six hours before finally being apprehended by law enforcement.
CENTER POINT, AL — Jefferson County Sheriff's deputies and a SWAT team surrounded a home in Center Point Tuesday morning where a man had barricaded himself inside and refused to leave. The standoff ended after six hours when the suspect finally surrendered.
The home is located on Reed Street in Center Point, and Jefferson County deputies say a woman was able to leave the home. JCSO reports say the suspect was in the home with his girlfriend, another female, and another male when an argument began over a wrecked truck around 2 a.m. Tuesday.
The suspect reportedly surrendered at approximately 8:30 a.m. and is being taken to Jefferson County Jail. The suspect was taken to the hospital with minor abrasions.

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office said the incident was a hostage situation, and the suspect is being held at the Jefferson County Jail awaiting charges.
