Noise From Trussville Indoor Shooting Range Still a Problem Despite Repeated Complaints
After numerous complaints, Trussville residnets are still concerned about the noise coming from an indoor firing range in the city.

TRUSSVILLE, AL - Despite a bevy of notices and complaints, Trussville residents are still talking about noise coming from an indoor shooting range inside the city limits. Last month, residents near Sheepdog Firearms complained to the Trussville City Council about the noise, and said they were assured that steps were people taken to make the facility soundproof. However, at this week's meeting, those residents say nothing has been resolved.
According to the Trussville Tribune, Trussville mayor Buddy Choat said at the Aug. 8 city council meeting that when plans for the indoor shooting range were discussed, city officials were “assured it would be soundproof.” Choat also said Charles Kessler, a real estate developer and broker in the neighborhood, and city attorney Rick Stotser recently walked through the gun range with one of the owners to see the steps that have been taken to eliminate the noise. Choat called the efforts “substantial.”
In addition to insulation recently installed, Choat said Sheepdog Firearms owners plan to install additional soundproofing material next week. Stotser urged the concerned citizens at Tuesday’s meeting to visit the shooting range to see what is being done to make the building soundproof.
