JEFFERSON COUNTY, AL — A man accused of abuse of a corpse in the death of Paighton Houston was granted bond by a Jefferson County judge. Fredrick Hampton, 50, appeared in Jefferson County District Judge Thomas Thrash Jr.'s court Tuesday and was granted $15,000 bond.

Hampton fled to Ohio after being named as a suspect in the case. U.S. Marshals arrested him outside of Cleveland Jan. 16. He was returned to Jefferson County about a month later.

Houston died Dec. 21 from an accidental drug overdose, according to findings by the Jefferson County Coroner's Office and Jefferson County Sheriff's Office. While Hampton is not accused of killing Houston, he is accused of disposing of her body, which was found in a shallow grave next to a home in Hueytown owned by one of Hampton's relatives.
