Pawn Shop Burglary Interrupted On Center Point Parkway

A Jefferson County Sheriff's deputy interrupted a burglary in progress Wednesday at Lee's Pawn Shop on Center Point Parkway.

BIRMINGHAM, AL - A robbery in progress was spoiled by a Jefferson County Sheriff's deputy Wednesday night, although the suspect remains at large.

Wednesday night, a deputy patrolling Center Point Parkway observed a small SUV with the rear hatch open, backed into a parking spot in front of Lee’s Pawn Shop. The suspect sped out of the parking lot at a high rate of speed when the deputy’s patrol car was spotted. Deputies pursued the vehicle to the area near Roebuck Golf Course, but then lost sight of it.

The Sheriff's Office said it appears as though the offenders were about to tear the door off of the Pawn Shop, but were interrupted before they were able to complete the job.
