Pinson Library Reopening At Former Rock School Site
Pinson Public Library is reopening in the old school building after a $1.5 million renovation.

PINSON, AL - Sunday marks a much-awaited day for the city of Pinson, as the new Pinson Public Library will open in its new location at the former Rock School site. A grand opening is scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday.
The new library involved a $1.5 million renovation of the school, which was originally built nearly 100 years ago on what is now Pinson Boulevard. The name was given to the school because it was built by volunteers using rocks pulled from Turkey Creek. Since it closed, the school had been home to a daycare and a church before the city purchased it.
The library renovation was designed by Hendon & Huckstein Architects, with Seay Construction handling the project. The project was completed in about six months, two months earlier than its timetable. A report by Alabama Media Group said the new library will have twice as much square-footage as the old one.

Developers attempted to preserve as much of the old school, like the rock exterior, as possible. Original doors, wooden bases, windows and door cases were preserved wherever possible.
