Pinson Valley And Clay-Chalkville Face Off In Semi-Finals
Down to four teams, the 6A football playoffs now feature a local matchup between Pinson Valley and Clay-Chalkville.

BIRMINGHAM, AL - The Pinson Valley Indians remain unbeaten and advanced to the state semi-finals last weekend, and their foe in the semis is a familiar one. Cross-town rival Clay-Chalkville beat second-ranked Oxford 31-15 last Friday night in the third round, and look to avenge an early season loss to the Indians this Friday night.
Pinson Valley won a thriller against Austin in the quarterfinals, winning in overtime, 51-50 on the strength of more than 400 passing yards by quarterback Bo Nix. Nix also ran in the game-winning two-point conversion in overtime on a gutsy call by Bo's father, PVHS head coach and former Auburn QB Patrick Nix.
Clay-Chalkville allows just 11.8 points per game and has five shutouts this season, so this game will hinge in who's unit is stronger: the Cougars' defense or the Indians' offense. Clay-Chalkville had a 10-game winning streak against Pinson Valley until last season's 21-14 overtime loss to the Indians, and this season's 34-32 loss in September. This is Pinson Valley's first ever trip to the semi-finals.
