Pinson Valley Loses Top Ranking After Loss To Huskies
A 40-33 loss to Hewitt-Trussville last week dropped Pinson Valley from the top spot in the latest ASWA poll.
TRUSSVILLE, AL — A heartbreaking loss by Pinson Valley last week to Hewitt-Trussville dropped the Indians from the top spot in the latest Alabama Sports Writers Association poll. The two-time defending 6A champs lost to the Huskies 40-33.
Auburn commit Armoni Goodwin of Hewitt-Trussville racked up 218 rushing yards and four scores in the win.
The Indians jumped out to a 14-6 lead following a 63-yard touchdown pass to Jaquel Fells Jr. and a 23-yard touchdown pass to Ga’Quincy McKinstry from Pinson Valley starter Barry White, but Hewitt-Trussville cut the lead to two points on a 4-yard touchdown run from Goodwin.

The Huskies had 568 total yards with only 114 through the air. Goodwin accounted for almost half of Hewitt-Trussville’s offense and Sean Jackson contributed 93 rushing yards and 40 receiving yards with a 7-yard touchdown run. Omari Kelly had two catches for 40 yards and three carries for 16 yards and a score
