Pinson Valley Remains No. 1, Huskies Fall To 6th In ASWA Poll

Hewitt-Trussville's loss to Mountain Brook dropped the Huskies out of the top 5 in this week's poll.

TRUSSVILLE, AL - After the most recent games in local high school football, some things changed, and others remained the same. What changed was that Hewitt-Trussville's 20-17 loss to Mountain Brook dropped the Huskies out of the top 5 in the most recent Alabama Sports Writers Association 7A rankings, but Pinson Valley and Clay-Chalkville held on to their spots in the 6A top 5.

Mountain Brook beat the second-ranked Hewitt-Trussville Huskies Friday night in front of a packed house in Trussville, thanks to a stifling defense that kept the high-powered Hewitt-Trussville offense at bay, allowing only 17 points and holding the Huskies star quarterback Paul Tyson to just 187 yards.

Auburn commit Ja’Varrius Johnson led Hewitt-Trussville with eight catches for 80 yards while Alabama commit Dazalin Worsham added six catches for 64 yards. (For more updates on this story and free news alerts for your neighborhood, sign up for your local Patch morning newsletter.)
