AUBURN, AL — Just a year removed from leading his Pinson Valley team to a state championship, quarterback Bo Nix will lead the Auburn Tigers into the 2019 season as the starting quarterback. The team made the announcement Tuesday.

Nix beat redshirt freshman Joey Gatewood for the job, and will follow in his father's footsteps under center for the Tigers. Patrick Nix was the Auburn starting signal-caller from 1994-1995.

Nix will be the first true freshman to open the season as the Tigers' starting quarterback since 1946, when single-wing tailback Travis Tidwell started.
