Police Chase Through Trussville Halted For Safety Reasons

Trussville police called off a chase through the city in mid-pursuit, citing danger to the public.

TRUSSVILLE, AL — Trussville police officers chasing a suspect Monday who had warrants for misdemeanor violations called off the chase when it reached I-59/20. The Trussville PD said the chase was halted due to safety reasons.

A Trussville Tribune report said the chase started around 4:15 p.m. in the 100 block of Main Streetwhen an officer spotted the driver of a black BMW committing a misdemeanor traffic offense. The vehicle refused to stop and the police followed the driver through Trussville and to the interstate.

Chief Eric Rush said the chase was called off near Tallapoosa Street on I-59/20. "The registered owner of the vehicle showed some outstanding, misdemeanor warrants," said Rush. "There was a safety factor there, so we let them go."
