Robbery In Trussville Leads To Multiple Charges

A robbery April 24 in Trussville on Norrell Drive led to multiple charges against a 27-year-old Birmingham man.

TRUSSVILLE, AL — A robbery April 24 in Trussville led to the arrest of a 27-year-old Birmingham man, and multiple criminal charges. The incident occurred in the 4700 block of Norrell Drive.

Trussville police said officers located a victim, who admitted to being robbed but declined to press charges, and obtained a physical description of the suspect from witnesses.

Officers reportedly located the suspect, identified as Devon Wright of Birmingham, in the 1100 block of N Chalkville Road. Police said that when officers made contact with Wright, he attempted to flee but was quickly captured.

Police also said Wright physically resisted arrest and was found in possession of a firearm and a substance that tested positive for the presence of heroin. Wright was arrested for unlawful possession of a controlled substance, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, attempt to elude, and carrying a pistol without a license. Wright was transferred to the Jefferson County Jail.
