Sheriff's Office Investigates Shooting On Highway 79
The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office says a shooting on Highway 79 Wednesday was a targeted shooting.
JEFFERSON COUNTY, AL — A shooting on Highway 79 Wednesday is thought by law enforcement to have been a targeted shooting. The incident occurred just before 9 p.m.
Jefferson County Sheriff's deputies responded to a shooting on Highway 79 near Fleming road at 8: 45 Wednesday night. A driver reported that a vehicle pulled beside her occupied by four black males and began shooting at her and her passenger.
The men then reportedly did a U-turn and headed in the other direction. The passenger was struck by gunfire, and was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Investigators said this offense does not appear to be random but "a targeted act." Sheriff’s detectives are investigating this shooting, but have no suspects in custody.
