Shooting In Center Point Under Investigation By Sheriff's Office

A caller reported hearing two gunshots and then seeing a man with a gun in some bushes near some apartments.

CENTER POINT, AL - Jefferson County Sheriff’s detectives are conducting a shooting investigation after the report of a 19-year-old man shot Wednesday morning in Center Point.

Just after 7 a.m., deputies responded to a shooting complaint in the 1800 block of Martinique Drive NE in Center Point. A caller reported hearing two gunshots and then seeing a man with a gun in some bushes near an apartment complex.

Deputies arrived to find a 19-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to an area hospital with what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries. (For more updates on this story and free news alerts for your neighborhood, sign up for your local Patch morning newsletter.)

Deputies are currently searching the area for the shooter. The motive is unknown, and the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office at 205-325-1450 or Crime Stoppers at 205-254-7777.
