Shooting Investigation Under Way In Center Point

CENTER POINT, AL - A shooting Sunday night in Center Point is under investigation by the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office. The shooting resulted in fatal injuries to a female victim, while the male suspect got away.

Deputies received a report of a woman shot in the parking lot of Garden Way apartments in Center Point just after 10 p.m. Sunday. The victim was shot when she parked her car in front of the apartments.

The shooter was a male who fled on foot after firing the shots. Neighbors who heard the shots rendered aide to the victim until deputies and paramedics arrived. The victim was transported to UAB hospital for treatment where she was pronounced dead at 3:35 a.m.

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Veronica Gail Foy. She was 47.
