Shooting In Pell City Result Of Family Dispute: Police

PELL CITY, AL — A shooting Sunday night in Pell City resulted in one victim taken to UAB Hospital with gunshot wounds. The incident is said to be fueled by a family dispute.

A report by ABC 33/40 said the victim has been identified as 39-year-old Michael Lee Griffith. A suspect has been taken into custody but no charges have been filed as of Monday morning.

The Pell City Police Department said in a release that officers were called to the 1700 block of 19th Street South on reports of stolen property. As they arrived, they were notified that shots had been fired at that location.

Griffith was treated on the scene by medics with Pell City Fire and Rescue before being taken to St. Vincent's Hospital in St. Clair County. He was later taken to UAB Hospital.
