Teen Charged In Center Point Shooting

A 17-year-old Center Point teen is in the Jefferson County Jail charged with Attempted Murder.

BIRMINGHAM, AL - The Jefferson County Sheriff's Offices investigation into a shooting that occurred Tuesday afternoon at an apartment complex in Center Point has resukted in charges against a teen suspect. The shooting happened just before 4 p.m. at the Magnolia Trace apartments.

Deputies arrived to find an adult female suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. She was taken to an area hospital, although her condition is not known at this time.

A description of the suspect vehicle was broadcast to deputies in the area, and a car matching the description was stopped at Center Point Parkway and Houston Road. All three occupants were detained and questioned by detectives.

This morning detectives obtained an arrest warrant formally charging 17-year-old Decarlos Lamar Thrikield as an adult with Attempted Murder. He remains in the Jefferson County Jail with bond set at $35,000.
