Springville High School Band To Battle Travel Company In Court

The Springville High School marching band is suing a travel company for more than $100,000.

SPRINGVILLE, AL — The Springville High School marching band is suing a Florida-based travel company after the cancellation of a band trip due to the COVID-19 pandemic. An ABC 33/40 report said the band is suing Musical Destinations for $105,000.

The school's band had scheduled a trip to Disney World for March when the pandemic hit, causing the trip to be canceled. The school had raised the $105,000 needed to take the trip, which they have not been refunded, the suit says.

"We're talking $105,000, that's a substantial amount we can't get back," said St. Clair County Schools superintendent Mike Howard in an ABC 33/40 interview. "For a while we were told by the owner that everything would come through then all communication stopped. It's disheartening."
