Suspect Arrested After Shooting In Center Point

Jefferson County Sheriff's deputies arrested Dewayne Mone Prowell Jr. and charged him with attempted murder.

CENTER POINT, AL - A man has been arrested after a Monday morning shooting in Center Point. Jefferson County Sheriff's deputies arrested Dewayne Mone Prowell Jr. and charged him with attempted murder.

Deputies responded to a call of a vehicle crash and shots fired in the 400 block of 15th Terrace N.W around 9:30 a.m. Monday. Prowell reportedly began shooting at two other men, who then returned fire, causing Prowell's to crash vehicle into the vehicle occupied by the men at whom he was shooting.

All of the men fled the crash scene but were captured by deputies in different locations with the help of information given by citizens. No one was injured during this shooting, but several buildings, structures and houses were struck by bullets.

After investigation, Dewayne Prowell Jr. was arrested and charged with the attempted murder of both men.
