Suspect Sought In Center Point High School Break-Ins

Two break-in at Center Point High School may have been committed by the same suspect, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office.

BIRMINGHAM, AL - A male suspect is being sought for questioning regarding two break-ins at Center Point High School, the second of which occurring over the weekend. The burglary happened about 1:40 a.m. Sunday and is under investigation by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.

Sgt. John Pennington with Crime Stoppers of Metro Alabama said the suspect is also believed to be the same person who broke into the same school in January. Alabama Media Group reported that deputies found that a door to the school's field house had been pried open and two vending machines inside were damage. A further check of the property showed that the main school building had also been burglarized. Several classrooms and offices were vandalized, including broken glass in the doors to those offices and classrooms.

Authorities said the suspect appears to be stealing classroom items including electronics. At least one pair of sneakers also was reported to be taken.

Video surveillance cameras were working during the break-in, and authorities on Wednesday released still images from that footage. Anyone with information about the burglary or the suspect is asked to call the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office at 205-325-1450.
