Suspects In Custody After School Lockdown At HTMS
Three suspects are in custody after a police chase near Hewitt-Trussville Middle caused the school to go into lockdown.

TRUSSVILLE, AL - A frightening ordeal in Trussville is over, now that three suspects are in custody after a police chase caused the lockdown of Hewitt-Trussville Middle School Thursday morning. The school was under a code orange lockdown, meaning that the perimeter must be secured.
The school notified HTMS parents via app and email that the school was on lockdown due to suspicious activity in the area around Interstate 59, according to a report by the Trussville Tribune.

The chase, initiated by Alabama State Troopers, involved three men in a Metro rental truck. Reports said the truck was abandoned in the median on I-59 and the suspects fled on foot, as police started searching for the suspects from I-59 to Green Drive. Witnesses told the Trussville Tribune two of the suspects were captured near the Chalkville Mountain/North Chalkville area, and the third suspect was captured in the Grayson Valley area.
Alabama State Troopers, Trussville Police, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and Argo Police participated in the search. K9 units from Trussville Police, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and the St. Clair County Prison all assisted in tracking the suspects
