Trussville Man Drowns in Swimming Pool at His Home

A 78-year old Trussville man was found dead in his swimming pool at his home last week.

TRUSSVILLE, AL - A 78-year old Trussville resident drowned in his pool at his home last week. The man has been identified as William Mell Godwin. He lived on Acrilane Drive. Police found Godwin unresponsive after they were dispatched to his home around 1 p.m. Monday.

According to Alabama Media Group, Trussville police Det. Mike Bruce said officers were dispatched to the home in the Echo Hills subdivision after receiving a call from a neighbor. Officers Robert Antonio and Brett Deloach pulled Godwin from the pool and both administered CPR in an effort to revive him. Godwin was pronounced dead on the scene at 1:30 p.m. No foul play is suspected.
