Woman Found Dead In Leeds, Suspect Commits Suicide

After a 36-year-old woman was found dead in Leeds, police pursued a suspect who then committed suicide.

ST. CLAIR COUNTY, AL - A woman was found dead in Leeds Monday morning by the St. Clair County Sheriff's Office, and as the investigation into 36-year-old Barbara Posey's death ensued, an arrest warrant was issued for George Darrell Heath, a 39-year-old white male, of Leeds. When law enforcement located him over the Alabama- Georgia state line, Heath reportedly shot and killed himself.

A report by Alabama Media Group said St. Clair County investigators, Moody police and Jacksonville State Forensics responded to a report of a shooting at a residence at 252 Trails End Lane in Leeds, and found Posey dead at the home.

Authorities said they developed information on the possible whereabouts of Heath, who they had determined had a volatile relationship with Posey. St. Clair County Investigators, along with the Haralson County, Georgia Sheriff’s Office and the Cleburne County Sheriff’s Office, located Heath at the Alabama state line.
