$141K Raised Ahead Of Sept. 26 Special Election Primary For House District 16
Here's a look at fundraising for the special election to fill the vacant House District 16 seat.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — A total of $141,597.90 has been raised by candidates vying for the open District 16 seat in the Alabama House of Representatives ahead of the special election primary on Tuesday, Sept. 26.

According to campaign finance reports filed by this week's deadline with the Alabama Secretary of State's Office, $106,300.94 has been spent by the four Republican candidates who met the necessary threshold required for them to disclose their fundraising and spending.

Going into next week's GOP Primary, Northport attorney Brian Brinyark continues to lead the pack in terms of fundraising and reported $48,355 raised as of the publication of this story.

Conversely, Fayette County Commissioner Brad Cox has outspent his competitors with $38,184.8, despite trailing Brinyark in the immediate lead-up to the primary.
Other candidates who did not meet the reporting threshold include Republican Floyd "Jr" Rodgers, Jr. and Democrat John Underwood.
District 16 covers parts of Fayette, Jefferson and Tuscaloosa counties.
