3-Year-Old Struck, Killed Following Crash On Highway 69 S

Following a multi-vehicle crash that left two others injured, a 3-year-old child was struck and killed by an unidentified vehicle.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — Following a multi-vehicle crash that left two others injured, a 3-year-old child was struck and killed by an unidentified vehicle on Alabama Highway 69 South on Wednesday.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) says the crash occurred just after 11 p.m. when a 2015 Hyundai Genesis driven by a Tuscaloosa woman struck a 2022 Ford F350 driven by a man from Newbern.

ALEA said the female driver, a 3-year-old passenger, and a 4-year-old passenger in the Hyundai were not using seat belts or child restraints at the time of the crash and were all ejected.

What's more, investigators found that, after the initial collision, the 3-year-old child was struck by an unidentified vehicle that did not stop or return to the scene.

The child was pronounced dead at the scene, while the woman and 4-year-old passenger were also injured and transported to area hospitals for treatment.

The collision, which remains under investigation, occurred approximately seven miles south of Tuscaloosa.

ALEA then said the vehicle involved in the subsequent crash, along with the driver, are currently unknown.
