70th Birthday Celebration Planned For Northport Community Center
The free event will be on July 22 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at 2100 Park Street.
NORTHPORT, AL — The Northport Community Center has been the focus of much conversation over the last few weeks and those looking to save the park are planning to celebrate the community center and adjoining park's 70th birthday later this month.

The free event will be on July 22 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at 2100 Park Street.

There will be crafts and refreshments for children, along with a toy giveaway.
As Patch previously reported, the Northport City Council is set to vote Monday evening on repealing a resolution that would require a unanimous vote of the City Council to sell the property that includes the community center and park.

What's more, plans expressed by City Council members call for the property to be turned into the city's newest retail development, with the city partnering at present with Beeker Property Group to conduct due diligence work.
Monday's regular City Council meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m.
