Alabama Soccer Falls To South Carolina 1-0 In SEC Tournament Championship
South Carolina scored a goal early in the second half and didn't let up on defense to deliver Alabama its first SEC loss of the season.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The most exciting conference winning streak in University of Alabama soccer history came to a disappointing end for the Crimson Tide nation Sunday as top-seeded Alabama fell 1-0 to No. 2 South Carolina in the championship final of the 2022 SEC Women's Soccer Tournament in Pensacola, Florida.

South Carolina got on the board first with 33:09 left in the second half, taking advantage of the Crimson Tide defense with a throw in on a score that would turn out to be the only for either team the rest of the afternoon. The South Carolina defense then kept the Tide from reaching the back of the net on its way to delivering Alabama its first conference loss of the season.

The championship came was played 3,025 in attendance Sunday at the Ashton Brosnaham Soccer Complex.
Prior to the loss, SEC regular season champion Alabama (19-2-1, 10-1-0 SEC) had not lost or tied a contest since Sept. 4, when the Crimson Tide finished 1-1 against Utah in Salt Lake City. Finishing the season undefeated at home, the Tide's only other loss of the 2022 campaign came in a 1-0 loss at Miami on Aug. 21.

The loss also marks only the second time this season that Alabama soccer has been shut out.
The 64-team field for the 2022 NCAA Women's Soccer Tournament will be announced Monday, Nov. 7 at 12:30 p.m. on NCAA.com.
