Alabama Rolls SEC Awards As Smith, Surtain Take Top Honors
Crimson Tide receiver DeVonta Smith was named SEC Offensive Player of the Year, while Patrick Surtain II won Defensive Player of the Year.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Following a historic unbeaten regular season and conference championship win, it came as no surprise on Tuesday when the Alabama Crimson Tide nearly swept the Southeastern Conference's annual awards, claiming six individual honors.

Tide receiver DeVonta Smith, coming off a brilliant performance against Florida in the SEC Championship game on Saturday, was named SEC Offensive Player of the Year, while defensive back Patrick Surtain II was named Defensive Player of the Year.

Alabama offensive lineman Landon Dickerson and Alex Leatherwood were also named recipients of the Jacobs Blocking Trophy, and while coach Nick Saban was named the conference's Coach of the Year.
Quarterback Mac Jones earned Scholar-Athlete of the Year honors.

Alabama also led the way with nine representatives on the 2020 All-SEC Coaches' Football First Team, while Florida, Georgia and Missouri had three each.
Several Tide players named to the list have been selected more than once, including Dickerson, Leatherwood, Smith, running back Najee Harris, linebacker Dylan Moses and receiver Jaylen Waddle.
Also representing Alabama on the SEC All-Freshman Team are offensive lineman Javion Cohen, linebacker Will Anderson Jr., and defensive back Malachi Moore.
Alabama, who received the No. 1 spot in the College Football Playoff Semifinals, is set to take on No. 4 Notre Dame in the Rose Bowl Game on New Year's Day at AT&T Stadium in Dallas.
