Alabama's Million Dollar Band Opts Out Of Texas Trip Due To Stadium Seating

One media report says the decision was made as a result of the location and limited seating for the band during Saturday's game.

TUSCALOOSA, AL —The University of Alabama's Million Dollar Band will not be in attendance at Darrell K Royal–Texas Memorial Stadium in Austin on Saturday when the Tide takes on the Texas Longhorns.

"Due to the seating location and configuration of the visiting institution’s ticket allotment at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium, the Million Dollar Band will not make the trip this weekend for the Alabama at Texas football game," UA Athletics said in an official statement on Tuesday.

USA Today's AJ Spurr was first to report on Monday that the decision was made due to the proposed seating arrangements and limited number of seats reserved for the visiting band.

Spurr also shared a photo of the band from Texas Christian University sitting in the spot supposedly set aside for the Million Dollar Band, which is in the upper deck of the stadium.

No. 1 Alabama (1-0) is set to kickoff against Texas (1-0) at 11 a.m. local time on Saturday, Sept. 10.

The game will be broadcast on FOX.
