Alberta School Of Performing Arts Hires Taylor-Maye As Principal
Chenale Taylor-Maye has been hired as the next principal for the Alberta School of Performing Arts by Tuscaloosa City Schools.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The Tuscaloosa City Board of Education on Tuesday approved hiring Chenale Taylor-Maye as the next principal for the Alberta School of Performing Arts (TASPA) after previously serving as the school's assistant principal.

TCS says Taylor-Maye brings 14 years of experience of working in education, including the last four years in the Tuscaloosa City Schools. She has also served in roles at Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary, Southview Elementary, and TASPA.

Taylor-Maye will fill the role left by Amy Tilford, who left the position in the fall for a job with the Alabama Department of Education. She will now finish out the rest of the school year as principal.
Tuscaloosa City Schools Superintendent said Taylor-Maye stood out as a strong candidate because of her proven instructional leadership, her vision for excellence, and her commitment to success for all students.

"She will continue the already strong progress that The Alberta School of Performing Arts is making," he said. "We are excited to have her in this new role as she works with the outstanding faculty/staff, students, families, and community."
Taylor-Maye expressed her excitement for the challenge and said she hopes to sustain an atmosphere of successful teaching and learning.
"It is my hope to inspire every member of the faculty and staff to serve our students with the necessary competencies that will produce success," she said. "I have high expectations to empower teachers to be sure that all students are college and/or career ready, all while simultaneously being very intentional to make teaching and learning fun every day for both teachers and students."
