TUSCALOOSA, AL — The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) on Wednesday announced plans to permanently close the median crossovers at two locations in Tuscaloosa as the agency aims to enhance safety.

ALDOT spokesman John McWilliams said the 15th Street and Seventh Avenue East median crossover will close next week, in addition to the Veterans Memorial Parkway and Ninth Avenue East median crossover.

McWilliams then said the inside eastbound and westbound lanes of Highway 215 will be temporarily closed during construction, along with the US Highway 82 inside turn lanes.
Work is set to begin Sunday, May 8 at 8 p.m. and is expected to last approximately 10 days.

ALDOT says motorists should expect delays and encouraged drivers to use caution in the work zone.
