Applications Open For Tuscaloosa County Board Of Equalization

The City of Tuscaloosa on Wednesday announced it is accepting resumes for three nominations to the Tuscaloosa County Board of Equalization.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The City of Tuscaloosa on Wednesday announced it is accepting resumes for three nominations to the Tuscaloosa County Board of Equalization.

The city says the board oversees the hearings regarding property valuation appeals and is responsible for evaluating evidence presented by the citizens during the appeal process subsequently making "a fair, independent, impartial and objective decision guided by the legal standard in Alabama."

Eligible nominees must have resided in the county for at least five years, own taxable real property within the county, be registered as a qualified elector and not currently hold any public office or government employment.

The City of Tuscaloosa says nominations will be sent to the Alabama Department of Revenue, along with the nominations from other governing bodies.

The Alabama Commissioner of Revenue, with the approval of the governor, will then appoint three members within 30 days after the receipt of the list of nominees.

Each appointee will serve a four-year term, with applications being accepted until July 25 at 10 a.m.
