Bediako Appeals To Alabama Supreme Court In Eligibility Case
The now-former Crimson Tide center is appealing the decision to the state's highest

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The University of Alabama on Monday issued a statement following news that former Crimson Tide basketball player Charles Bediako is appealing his NCAA eligibility case to the Alabama Supreme Court.

Patch reported earlier this month when Tuscaloosa County Circuit Court Judge Daniel Pruet denied Bediako’s request for a preliminary injunction that would have allowed him to continue playing for for Alabama amid his legal challenge to the NCAA’s eligibility ruling.

In its statement Monday, UA reiterated its support for Bediako as the legal challenge continues.
“We understand that Charles is pursuing an appeal in his case against the NCAA, and ultimately, he must do what he considers to be in his best interest,” UA Athletics said. “The University continues to support Charles as he works toward completing his degree.”

Bediako appeared in five games for the Crimson Tide this season after another Tuscaloosa County Circuit Court judge initially issued a temporary restraining order allowing him to return to the college ranks after play in the NBA G League.

The timeline for when the state's highest court will take up the appeal is uncertain as Alabama's regular season approaches its conclusion on March 7.
