When crews arrived they found a mobile home fully involved, resulting in a total loss.

Fire officials said the suspected cause of the fire was a space heater and a mattress catching fire.

"Thankfully all that were at home made it out safely," said the City of Centreville in a Facebook post. "We ask that everyone pay close attention to space heaters and proximity to furniture and flammable materials."

What's more, city officials issued a call for assistance for the family, with a local church paying for a motel room for the night after the family lost all but the clothes on their backs. The American Red Cross has also reportedly been contacted to help the family.

Still, the City of Centreville explained that the family is a husband, wife and their six children.

Officials urge anyone who can help this family with Christmas gifts, clothes, or otherwise to contact James Murphy at (205) 225-4780 or send the city a direct message on Facebook
