Birmingham Men Charged After String Of Tuscaloosa Auto Burglaries

Two Birmingham men on the run since October have been captured following a series of auto burglaries across the state and in Tuscaloosa.

TUSCALOOSA, AL. — Two Birmingham men have been arrested and charged in connection to a string of vehicle burglaries at multiple Tuscaloosa hotels in October. On Tuesday, members of the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force captured Ro'daryus Mitchell, 23, and Jae'Vontea Taylor, 18, after arrest warrants were obtained following the incidents.

Patch previously reported that the investigation is being conducted by the Tuscaloosa Police Department with assistance from the Huntsville, Cullman, Decatur and Oxford police departments. As a result, both men could face further charges in each of those jurisdictions.

The investigation was prompted after reports of car break-ins the weekend of Oct. 10-11, with guns stolen out of vehicles parked at hotels along Jack Warner Parkway, Harper Lee Drive and Veterans Memorial Parkway.

The two men are also suspected of stealing guns out of vehicles parked at hotels across the state.
