As CNN reported on Wednesday, Brooks — who lost his bid for U.S. Senate in the GOP Primary on Tuesday — said he would indeed agree to appear before the committee, given specific conditions such as receiving certain materials before his appearance and for the entire hearing to be public.

"My basic requirement is it be in public so the public can see it — so they don't get bits and pieces dribbled out," Brooks told the national media outlet.

Along with former President Donald Trump, Brooks was one of the most visible players during the now-infamous rally on the White House grounds prior to the Jan. 6 insurrection at the Capitol and is one of the figures who has been investigated for his involvement from the outset.

As many argue, it was Trump and others who incited the violent mob in an effort to stop the certification of the results of the 2020 presidential election. The images of a gallows erected on the capitol grounds have now been seen by millions across the world, along with the numerous videos of rioters chanting phrases such as "Hang Mike Pence!"

Despite being one of the earliest Trump allies, Brooks has changed his tone regarding his former boss as of late, particularly following Trump withdrawing his endorsement of Brooks in favor of backing his opponent, Katie Britt, in the GOP Primary for U.S. Senate in Alabama.

In an interview with Patch last week, Brooks stood by his criticism of the former commander-in-chief, who he said misled him and others regarding his support.

"He gave me his word he was going to endorse me and others, then he gave me his word he was not going to endorse Katie Britt," Brooks told Patch. "In 2016, he said that Ted Cruz's father was involved with the assassination of John F. Kennedy. Sometimes he says things for effect that are clearly untrue on their face but maybe does it in a humorous context or sarcastic context, but there are a lot of things he utters that are not true."

The next hearing of the Jan. 6 Select Committee is set for Thursday at 2 p.m.
