Student Arrested After Bringing Gun To Brookwood High Wednesday

The all-clear has been given after Brookwood High was placed on lockdown due to a student having a gun on campus.

BROOKWOOD, AL — The Tuscaloosa County School System says lockdown procedures were implemented at Brookwood High School Wednesday after officials received information that a student had a firearm on campus.

TCSS Superintendent Keri Johnson, in a message to parents, said the student and weapon were quickly secured and law enforcement is involved in an active investigation.

She then said all students were safe and no one was injured.

Johnson also explained that normal dismissal procedures were underway Wednesday afternoon and families will be contacted with more information once its comes available.

In an update Wednesday afternoon, the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office said at approximately 2:15 p.m., a TCSO deputy sheriff school resource officer was notified by Brookwood faculty that a student was possibly in possession of a firearm.

TCSO says the deputy then immediately made contact with the student, who was indeed found to be in possession of a firearm.

The case has been forwarded to the TCSO Criminal Investigations Division and the juvenile student has been arrested.
