Moundville Archaeological Park

On Saturday, May 16, 2026, Dylan Taylor (<a href="https://www.aces.edu/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Alabama Extension</a>) will take Moundville Archaeological Park visitors on a guided hike focused on&nbsp;identifying&nbsp;invasive plants&nbsp;at&nbsp;Moundville.&nbsp;
We’ll&nbsp;cover common species&nbsp;you’re&nbsp;likely seeing&nbsp;right now, including Callery pear, non-native wisteria, and heavenly bamboo (nandina), and talk about their impact on local ecosystems.&nbsp;
<h4>Hike Schedule</h4>
There will be an Invasive Species Hike from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. and another one from 10:30 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.

This program is free with paid&nbsp;<a href="https://moundville.museums.ua.edu/about/hours-location-admission/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">park admission</a>.

Special Education students will be working one-on-one with K-3 elementary children who are a year or two behind in reading. M/W, July 6-22. The focus will be on phonics, spelling, fluency, and handwriting.
