About the Book
What does it really take to lead when the pressure is highest and the spotlight is brightest?
In "Get It Done," renowned coach Mark Gottfried pulls back the curtain on more than three decades of Division I basketball to reveal a powerful truth: Leadership isn’t built in comfort. It’s forged in adversity.
With a decorated career of more than 400 wins as a head coach and twenty-two NCAA Tournament appearances, Coach Gottfried has performed at the top level of his profession. He has been in the pressure cooker that tests leaders many times. As an assistant coach at UCLA, he played an integral role in developing a team that won a national championship.
Those lessons are revealed here through unforgettable stories from the locker room and beyond. Coach Gottfried introduces his GID philosophy—Grit, Integrity, and Desire—a battle-tested framework for leading yourself first, building teams that trust each other, and standing firm when character is challenged. Each chapter delivers practical, actionable insights designed to help you respond to pressure with poise and purpose.
Those lessons endure not just on the basketball court but anywhere that leaders are called to have an impact. Whether you’re running a company, coaching a team, or guiding your family, "Get It Done" will strengthen what matters most: your consistency, your courage, and your commitment to doing things the right way, even when nobody is watching the scoreboard. Especially when nobody is watching.
Because in the end, winning isn’t about banners or trophies. It’s about who you become in the process. If you’re ready to dig deeper, lead better, and finish stronger, it’s time to get it done.
