Charge Elevated To Murder After Creekwood Apartments Shooting Victim Dies
An attempted murder charge against a Tuscaloosa man has been upgraded to murder following the death of a man from injuries.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — An attempted murder charge against a Tuscaloosa man has been upgraded to murder following the death of a man from injuries sustained in a shooting at Creekwood Apartments in Tuscaloosa last week.

Captain Jack Kennedy, commander of the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit, told local media on Wednesday that Earl Lee Ward, 38, died of his injuries over the weekend, which prompted charges to be raised from attempted murder to murder.

Marquis Rayone Brown, 40, was served the arrest warrant while still in the Tuscaloosa County Jail, where he remains without bond.
As Patch previously reported, Brown was identified as a suspect after Tuscaloosa Police were called at approximately 3 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 30 to the shooting call at Creekwood Apartments on 40th Avenue.

Once TPD arrived on scene, a man was found with multiple gunshot wounds and transported to DCH Regional Medical Center in critical condition.
