Under Alabama law, the tax stamp charge applies when illegal drugs are possessed without the required state tax having been paid.

The native of Charlotte, North Carolina was transported to the Tuscaloosa County Jail Monday morning and jail records show his bond was set at $5,000.

He was released Monday morning around 10:45 after posting bond.

It is not immediately clear what kind of disciplinary action the UA basketball program will take.

Those convicted of first-degree possession of marijuana face from a year and a day to up to 10 years in prison; up to a $15,000 fine; six-month drivers license suspension; and mandatory drug awareness classes.

The news also came a day after the Crimson Tide earned a No. 4 seed for the upcoming NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament.

Holloway played a crucial role for Alabama over the last two seasons after transferring to Tuscaloosa from Auburn.

This season, Holloway has averaged 16.8 points a game, including putting up three 26-point performances against UNLV, Yale and Kentucky.
