- Green Pond Fire & Rescue was recently on the receiving end of a $27,165 grant from Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation, which will go toward purchasing a new set of Hurst e-Draulic extrication equipment.

- Tuscaloosa County EMA will conduct its second day of holding a pop-up coronavirus vaccine registration event at the Samantha Fire Department on Tuesday 8 a.m until 5 p.m. for Tuscaloosa County residents aged 65 and older.

- I'll have another story coming today as an update to a previous constitutional carry bill sponsored by state Sen. Gerald Allen, a Republican from Tuscaloosa.


From The Cheap Seats ...

- The Northridge High Jaguars defeated the Gordo Green Wave 3-1 in high school baseball action Monday. Jon Woodard got the win on the hill for the Jags, tossing five innings and giving up only one earned run. The victory game after the Jags lost 1-0 to Sipsey Valley Monday afternoon.

- The Northside Rams softball team blasted four runs in the first inning and rode solid pitching on its way to 6-2 win over New Hope Monday. Becca Leigh Chadwick aided in the pitching effort and also hit a home run during the win. The Rams also defeated Goodpasture Christian 2-1 earlier in the day.

- The Tuscaloosa County High Wildcats softball team defeated Caledonia High 8-2 Monday, with Jasmine Crain Walker notching two hits, while she and Brylin Gray added two RBI each. Karlie Beasley got the win on the mound for the Wildcats after two innings of work before Shelby Simpson closed out the game. Earlier in the day, the Wildcats also defeated Brentwood Academy 4-3.

- Shelton State Community College's women basketball team moved up a spot to No. 6 in the latest NJCAA DI poll.

- Stillman College Athletics says starting today, it will publish a daily feature or preview on its website for every travel day of its men's basketball team's journey to the NAIA Tournament Final Site in Kansas City.
