Demopolis Native, Shelton State Runner Honored For Record-Breaking Performance
The former Demopolis High School standout is in her freshman season for Shelton State and placed 11th overall out of 99 competitors.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The Alabama Community College Conference on Monday announced that Demopolis native and Shelton State Community College runner Miriam Dominguez-Tellez for her recent performance at the Calhoun Warkhawk Invitational.

The former Demopolis High School standout is in her freshman season for Shelton State and placed 11th overall out of 99 competitors at the event.

During the Calhoun Warhawk Invitational at Calhoun Community College, Dominguez-Tellez finished the 5K event with a time of 20:20.7.
Dominguez-Tellez's mark also represents a new school record for Shelton State cross-country and was good enough for her to be the Top JUCO runner at the event.

The honor is the second received by the program just this month, with Patch previously reporting that former Bibb County High School standout and SSCC sophomore Ariel Turner earned the distinction for her performance in the ASICS XC Invitational in Fairburn, Georgia.
