Driver Sought After Pedestrian Killed In Tuscaloosa County Hit-And-Run

TUSCALOOSA, AL — A Tuscaloosa man was killed Saturday when he was struck by a vehicle while walking along Alabama Highway 216 in Tuscaloosa County.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) said 70-year-old Harry J. Martin Jr. was reportedly walking on the shoulder of the roadway when he was struck at about 11:22 a.m. Saturday.

Investigators believe the vehicle involved was a black Chevrolet Avalanche.

ALEA then said the vehicle left the scene following the crash and authorities have not identified the driver.

The crash occurred near the 4 mile marker of Alabama Highway 216, about four miles east of Tuscaloosa in Tuscaloosa County.

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call ALEA's Tuscaloosa Highway Patrol Post at (205) 635-0001 and press 2 after being connected.
