Echols Facility Dog Begins Cancer Treatment; Nearly $11K Raised For Medical Expenses
Here's the latest on treatment and a fundraiser for a facility intervention dog at Echols Middle School.

NORTHPORT, AL — Beloved Echols Middle School facility dog Lolly received her first cancer treatment this week and her family says they are “feeling hopeful” after a successful visit to VCA Carriage Hills Animal Hospital in Montgomery.

As Patch previously reported, Lolly has served as the school’s facility dog for nearly five years and was recently found to be internally bleeding, along with showing signs of carcinomatosis.

A GoFundMe was raised to cover Lolly's medical expenses and as of the publication of this story, it had raised $10,610 toward its goal of $11,000
“Our doctors and staff took wonderful care of her and we feel they have a good plan moving forward,” Lolly's caregivers wrote in an update to supporters. “We wish we could thank every single one of you personally for your support and generosity. Your donations have made her treatment possible.”

The update noted that Lolly will return to the hospital approximately every three weeks for a total of four to six treatments.
“We pray that we’ll see a decrease in her swelling (and cancer cells) while she continues to maintain her happy demeanor during this time," the update said.
