NORTHPORT, AL — It's the dawn of a new era at Tuscaloosa County High School as first-year head coach Adam Winegarden has made substantial progress building up the program in his first few months on the job.

Apart from renovations to the W.G. Sullivan Field House, the biggest cosmetic change is nearly finished with the installation of a new turf playing surface.

The Tuscaloosa County Board of Education approved the turf installation in April and work began on the project in June. The new playing surface will also be complimented by a new brick Legacy Walk leading from the field house to the field. Bricks will feature the names of TCHS alumni, businesses or families, along with other bricks mixed in from the old TCHS building that first opened in 1926.
