TCSS Reveals Five Candidates For Open District 2 School Board Seat
The TCSS Board of Education interviewed two candidates on Monday and will interview three more on Tuesday for the open school board seat.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The Tuscaloosa County Board of Education on Monday interviewed two candidates for the open District 2 board seat, with three more interviews set for Tuesday.

TCSS Public Information Officer Terri Brewer told Patch that Joey Hocutt and Judy Taylor interviewed for the open position on Monday, with Steve Acker, Ronnie Lett and Brenda Rickett scheduled to interview Tuesday.

Brewer then said no timetable has been announced for when a decision will be made by the school board concerning the appointment.
The candidate selected will fill the unexpired term of Board Member Jamie Lake, whose resignation from the school board was effective Feb. 17. The chosen candidate will serve through November 2026.

As Patch previously reported, Lake resigned after taking a new job with the federal government that would have conflicted with his elected office.
District 2 covers Northport and the northern part of Tuscaloosa County, including: Collins Riverside Middle School, Crestmont Elementary, Echols Middle School, Faucett-Vestavia Elementary, Huntington Place Elementary, Matthews Elementary, Northport Elementary, Northside High, Northside Middle, Tuscaloosa County High and Walker Elementary.
