Jamie Lake Stepping Down From Tuscaloosa County Board Of Education
District 2 Board Member Jamie Lake tells Patch he will be resigning from the school board after taking a new job with the federal government
NORTHPORT, AL — Jamie Lake, who has represented District 2 on the Tuscaloosa County Board of Education since 2020, has confirmed to Patch that he will be stepping down from his seat after taking a new job that would conflict with his elected office.

Lake's resignation will be effective on Thursday. His new job is one with the federal government, with the Hatch Act prohibiting local partisan elected service.

"The job is a great opportunity for me and my family," he told Patch on Monday. "It's been an honor for me to serve on the county school board and I wish the best for all of our school leaders, administrators, teachers and students."
First elected as a Republican in 2020, Lake defeated challenger Ronnie Lett in the Republican Primary to fill the seat left vacant by the late James Barnett — a board member who served for three decades who chose not to seek re-election.

The TCSS Board of Education is set to meet Thursday, where the next steps on a replacement will likely be discussed.
District 2 covers Northport and the northern part of Tuscaloosa County, including: Collins Riverside Middle School, Crestmont Elementary, Echols Middle School, Faucett-Vestavia Elementary, Huntington Place Elementary, Matthews Elementary, Northport Elementary, Northside High, Northside Middle, Tuscaloosa County High and Walker Elementary.
