Former Tide Baseball Star Returns For Role In Player Development

Mikey White spent the 2023 season on the staff at Tennessee Tech, where he served as the hitting coach while also working with infielders.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — Former Major Leaguer and Crimson Tide baseball standout Mikey White has returned to his alma mater for a role in the baseball program's player development.

"From the moment I took this job, I knew that I wanted people on my staff where the script 'A' was more than just a logo to them. I wanted people around this program that have a passion for The University of Alabama," head coach Rob Vaughn said. "We hit the jackpot with Mikey White – he's a Crimson Tide legend. We are so fortunate to bring him, his wife Lindsay, and his twin girls home to Alabama and back to Tuscaloosa."

UA says White spent the 2023 season on the staff at Tennessee Tech, where he served as the hitting coach while also working with infielders. Prior to that, White worked for one season at as as a hitting coach at Trevecca Nazarene in Nashville.

White's coaching career began at Ensworth High School in Nashville following six seasons in the Oakland A's organization. White advanced as high as the Triple-A level after being drafted in the second round of the 2015 MLB Draft by the A's.

White — a graduate of Spain Park in Birmingham and former Mr. Baseball in Alabama — played shortstop for the Crimson Tide from 2013-15, starting all 184 games across three seasons in Tuscaloosa. He would go on to earn Freshman All-America honors, All-SEC Second Team and a pair of NCAA All-Regional Team honors.

White went on to graduate from Alabama in 2021 with a bachelor's degree in human environmental sciences.

UA says White and his wife Lindsay have twin daughters, Norah and Evie.
